Music is more than just sound; it is the connection between a physical phenomenon and individual emotions, an expression that speaks its own language. This project explores the unique connection between music and typography. Music served as the primary source of inspiration for the development of a new typeface family focused on a reading typography. With a passion for playing the classical concert guitar since the age of seven, it has shaped not only musical understanding but also inspired a creative mindset — becoming a bridge to connect music and typography in an experimental, interdisciplinary project.
With an experimental and exploratory approach, musical principles were translated into typographic forms to explore the limits and potential of this interdisciplinary connection and discover innovative, unconventional ways of expression. The entire process, characterized by trial and error and learning, led to an individual interpretation that represents only one of numerous possible approaches. A publication was designed to accompany the project, which not only shows the new font family in use, but also sheds light on the emotional and analytical dimensions of music.
The project invites you to discover the fascinating connection between music and typography in a new way by showing that musical principles can be translated into visual forms. This opens up new perspectives on the connection between sound and graphic elements and shows how the structure of one medium can be transferred to another area and lead to new design approaches.
